Church music not just organs and choirs anymore

If you think worship music means robed choirs and church organs, think again. While this is still a mainstay of a church’s “joyfull noise”, then you haven’t been keeping up with the times. Modern or “contemporary” music is more and more becoming the norm, and recent studies show that churches who inject contemporary music into their services are seeing congregation numbers increase and attract younger members. To wit, Kris Allen, 2009 winner of “American Idol,” was assistant worship leader at New Life Church in Conway, Arkensas. This also happpens to be America’s fastest-growing congregation. Accoustic and Electric guitars, drums and electric pianos are finding their way into today’s church music.
