Last night I was driving by The Crab Pot and Bellevue and I remembered something funny my exmormon dad said. He liked the place, but he said that muscles tasted like a sweaty old boot. I had sampled it sometime after that with my best friend and her husband, and he was right. Not that I have actually ever eaten a sweaty old boot, but that’s pretty much what I would imagine it to taste like. My exmormon dad has a way with words. When he dislikes food, he dislikes it very passionately. It seems like he either loves it or hates it.

When my dad died last November, I thought I would be the boss in handling his estate. I was named the executor of will so I first thought I had a lot of power of deciding who got what. The reality I soon found, is that the executor of will of an estate has more of a duty to other people than they do to themselves. When I learned what my executor duties were all about I decided to punt the whole job of being the executor of the estate to a probate attorney. Now, I still have free time and don’t have the hassles and all that responsibility.

While someone who is wishing to become a dental hygienist will need to obtain a degree from an accredited school, you will not have to look far if you are looking to enter the field. Many dental hygienist schools are located around the country and offer both associates and bachelors degrees that will allow the student to enter the dental field. Since this is an excellent career path to go into, it is a good idea to search around and find a school that will suit you best. For the hygienist, only a 2 year degree is required, but if you would like to teach or do research, you will need a 4 year degree instead.

Ever since my son was young, he was interested in helping people. For quite some time, he thought that he wanted to be a doctor. However, once he got to college, he realized that he just didn’t have the strong commitment necessary in order to make it through eight grueling years. His young wife was pregnant at the time and it wasn’t a huge surprise when he started to look at ultrasound tech programs. This was the perfect way for him to be a part of the medical field without actually being the doctor. In the end, he ended up working for a private clinic and he loves it.

One thing I have never witnessed in the mormon church is what I have seen in others – holding classes to teach what other faiths believe. It makes me pretty angry when our churches do it to us because without fail, they get something wrong every time or at least partially wrong. It is the most annoying thing when someone acts like they know my beliefs better than I do or if you don’t know about these supposed doctrines the mormon church has, you just haven’t been in it long enough to know that. It is so ridiculous! How is it that people who have never been in it just happen to know that?

My son worked with a tutoring service to improve his grade when he was in class 7. His progress has been simply outstanding since then. It was a complete reversal from the days when he would come home with failing grades. He now constantly scores high A’s and B’s in projects and essays. The tutor came up with novel ways to teach him. She incorporated games and puzzles conveniently into the study time, which were not just fun, but were a great help in improving his understanding of various concepts. The tutor was also very friendly and accommodating. Whenever my son had a problem understanding anything, he would call her or email her and she would oblige promptly. This was a major plus. Along with improvement in studies, I see my son improving in confidence and self esteem, which is the most important benefit.

The reason I put off my career change was mostly lack of time. I am the single mother of three sons and for years was lucky to get enough sleep, let alone be able to take college classes. Finally my youngest was in high school and I felt he was old enough to help out, so I searched for a way I could fit classes into my life. I went online and researched dental assistant schools. There were some excellent choices and many included online courses which would work with my schedule. I enrolled and knew right away it was the right choice. After graduation I was offered several jobs and accepted one which I now love.

When I was in high school it was very rare that I had to do a research paper. I think we only did one or two a year if that. Now that I am in college it seems I need to do one or two per class each semester. It is taking a lot of my time, especially since I need to make sure to do the citations properly. I am wondering whether or not any of the programs to automatically generate citation information are any good. I remember hearing about these at one point, and now that I am writing so much they would make it easier on me.
